  1. Hello.
It's the morning of May 22, and the paperback version of Rapture is not available online through Barnes & Noble, only the e-book. Any idea as to why not?

  2. Hi, I got the paperback and as expected, I am really happy to have it finally and read it. I wondered, In addition to the paperback copies, I also bought "Gabriel's Inferno" via itunes, but I noticed that"Gabriel's Rapture" is not. Will it not be available there? Please let me know, I'd really like to complete the set. Thanks again and I hope you achieve the success you so much deserve! I've loved this story since the beginning and I don't think you 've received enough credit for it!!!

  3. Will there be a third book in this amazing series?

  4. Hello Ladies,
I believe the B&N stock issues have been resolved, IMM. Sorry about the delay.
Iris, iTunes chooses what books in their network to list and "Rapture" is in that list. It's simply up to them to decide to make it available. In this case, customer voices are the best way of making it happen so please, let iTunes know that you'd like the book to be make available.

Joanne, I'm considering writing a third book. Thanks for your kind words,
    SR

  5. Music to my ears...Gabriel's Rapture was amazing - It made me look up things I had no prior knowledge off....specifically Dante himself...

It left a few questions for many readers...such as

    1. What happened with Christa? What happened with Julia's countersuit against her?

    2. Why was Paulina in Toronto? What happened and what did they discuss when Gabriel went to visit her?

    3. What happened with Natalie and Simon? Did he ever really get what he deserved?

    4. I would have loved to know if Gabriel was going to reverse his surgery and give Julia a baby, or did they decide to adopt.

I think I speak for legions of fans when I beg for a third novel

    Thank you!

  6. I absolutely LOVED these books... but I can't recall if it was mentioned... where did Gabriel's love of Dante come from exactly.. he seemed very troubled but yet he is soooo intelligent! I would like to know the answers to the above questions as well... especially the baby question :) I truly fell in love with these books though and the deep powerful love story that went with them. I completely agree with Joanne above... i want to learn more about Dante and Beatrice... wouldn't it be cool if Gabriel and Julia turned out to be descendents of them... hence the strong connection to them!? Ok maybe i am getting carried away... And on a side note.. I live in Sinking Spring PA which is not far from the town in PA where Julia grew up.. why did you pick Sellinsgrove.. interesting place!! LOL...

  7. Sylvain- I must say, well done! I've read both books in less than two weeks and truly hope you continue this series. I've not read anything recently that weaves history, art and linguistics with a modern romance as you've done with Gabriel and Julian. I thought Christian and Ana (50 Shades) were my fav but Gabriel and Juliann are truly a tasteful, loving and romantic match. locations mentioned in Rapture while studying in Florence next summer.

I first read them on Kindle and went to B&N to purchase a hard copies for my home library only to find they've not yet added it to the shelves. Hopefully you're not far to the mass market! I plan to recommend your work to those looking for superior writing to 50 Shades.

While I am historian myself and come from Italian heritage, I've focused little on Italian history but your writing led me to new research interests. I definitely plan to visit as much of the Italian I consider myself well-read across all genres and have never taken it upon myself to contact the author but felt you deserved to know how much your work spoke to me. Best of luck Sylvain!

  8. Dear Sylvain, I read both books within 2 days. Your command of the English and Italian languages left me for wanting more! I love to write and I love learning new techniques in order to keep the readers interested in the story. Each of your novels rapped me into the world of both Gabriel and Julia.

As with other fans, I am hoping that you will fill the gaps from the second book regarding Paul and Christa, both sides of Gab and Julia's family members. During the closing of the second book, after they married, they prayed together but I am left with whether or not Gab had already reversed his surgery as he hoped to give Julia everything she desired or, that he would plan on doing so?

There were so many unanswered parts and I believe you do intend to take your readers to the next level. I could not put the books down until finished and I rarely have that passion or tenacity to do so.

You took the reader to real geographic regions, Italy, as is my heritage, I have not visited that part of the country but instead the very northern tip over the Swiss boarder - was just beautiful in your description.

Thank you for giving a woman the hope that such love and devotion still exists in an otherwise disconnected, ever-evolving world in which we live!

    Ciao~Dawn

  10. Sylvain, Thank you for this wonderful series! Gabriel took on this devastatingly handsome and sexy aura in my head. It was hard to concentrate on anything else but him until both books were finished. The series sure made my summer sizzle in the best way! I just saw an article on Yahoo listing your series as one of the top 5 books for a summer romance read. Congrats, they sure are correct in that! Here is the link if you have not seen it. http://shine.yahoo.com/love-sex/5-sexy-beach-reads-beyond-34-50-shades-155600509.html;_ylt=AjwnDp6JFd.0pMUwo84iZqzThqU5;_ylu=X3oDMTFnMTFlb21tBG1pdANCbG9nUG9zdEJvZHkEcG9zAzEEc2VjA01lZGlhQmxvZ0JvZHlBc3NlbWJseQ--;_ylg=X3oDMTJxZ2V1ZmVmBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDYmE1MGY4OTUtYzFkMS0zN2ZiLTk1NjctOWI1MGFkNTc3MDhhBHBzdGNhdANsb3Zlc2V4BHB0A3N0b3J5cGFnZQ--;_ylv=3

  11. Your books stopped my life in its tracks...I read both in a day and a half! I was so taken with the overwhelming love Gabriel and Julianne shared amongst all their trials and tribulations. I could relate to this story personally and I must say it touch me in so many ways. I hope you are considering a third book. I would be delighted to continue this love affair!

  12. Finished re-reading both books last night for the third time. So well written. Each time I find something new. When I checked your site this morning and discovered that there might be a third book I was elated. (Please gods of amazing authors that write intelligently about life, spirituality, and relationships please let there be a third book.) I have recommended your books to countless friends and even to strangers when they ask what has my nose pressed to my iPad!

I too have a couple of questions that may or may not be resolved in the third book.

What is the debt that Professor Picton owes Gabriel?

After Julia's meeting with her therapist in Boston when she is so distraught about dealing with her mother. They both admit to having more issues that they have not discussed with each other. Do some of these issues come back to haunt them?

After the wedding they both visit St. Francis's crypt - and they pray to be graced. I think I can guess what they pray for.

Just looking forward to another book!

Truly hoping, as most of your other readers, for a continuation of Gabriel & Julianne's story. Tho, whether it's about them or anything new, I am now a huge fan of your writing & looking forward to any of your future endeavors!

  21. I just finished reading Gabriel's Rapture right after I finished Gabriel's Inferno. I'm quite sure that, without a doubt, I will never read two such deeply moving and romantic books ever again! Rapture was made even more special because Gabriel and Julianna got married on my anniversary, January 21st. Joanna C. (above) asked some questions that I'm sure many of your readers would love to be answered in a third book telling the rest of their story. In any case, thank you, Sylvain for writing such a beautiful love story!

  23. I just wanted to say WOW! i have just finished reading Gabriel's Rapture and now i feel completely at a loss, although i loved the ending, i never wanted these books to end. I feel like i know the characters as if they are real people. Their love and passion was so heart-warming, never did it feel forced or unrealistic. They are two beautiful characters and the way the books are written is absolutely amazing.
Although throughout the books i always wanted Julia and Gabriel to find one another i cannot help but feel sorry for Paul, i found myself willing Julia to fall for him, just because he was the sweetest guy but then i knew that she couldn't love anyone but Gabriel, and that would have been worse for her to betray that love.

Thank you Sylvain, you are a truly amazing, talented author who has captured the hearts of many readers, mine included.

  24. Just finished Colin Firth's audiobook of The End of the Affair. Another (earlier)version of our Professor....jealously, love/hate, present/future, peace/turmoil, addiction, destroying love, anger at God, .....oh my. No wonder he was reading it on the plane...wonder if he saw himself in Bendrix and Julia in Sarah ...somehow I think he did in his phone conversation with Julia about it. Lovely.

  25. Gabriel’s Inferno and Gabriel’s Rapture is far better than 50 Shades of Grey, to be honest I do not how the publishing company considers this an erotic romance it is nothing compared to 50 Shades of Grey in the sex department, 50 Shades was graphic. I can honestly say these two books have brought me to tears. At times I thought Julia thought about herself, especially when Gabriel put his ass on the line for her because Gabriel wanted Julia to fulfill her dreams to go to Harvard. I am really pleased that Sylvain Reynard will be writing a third book to this series. Like most others, I would like to know what the outcome is with Christa, Simon and Paul and most of all will Gabriel have a vasectomy reversal so Gabriel and Julia have their own child. Thank you Sylvain for the excellent writing of these two books, you did an outstanding job!

  26. Thank you for this series. Very much appreciated, even more than the romance, your use of Julia to convey messages of steadfast forgiveness and of choosing love to respond to darkness in its many forms. Although you offer [great] pleasure through these books, you also draw attention to, and stimulate thoughts around, goodness and humanity. I think that's just wonderful. :-)

Also really enjoyed that you set this story in the world of academia. I'm a graduate student myself (at one of the universities mentioned in your book ;-) ), and I actually have a darling professor who studied at the University of Toronto before getting her PhD at Harvard. Reminded me of Julia!

Well done, SR! Looking forward to the final book.

  27. Sylvian,
I truly loved yours books. I went into it thinking it was just another professer-student romance type, but it proved to be much, much more!
Since a few of my friends had been reading Fifty Shades of Grey and they obviously were very amused by it, I decided to check it out too; I started randomly at the 2nd book and what I read by about 30 pages totally disgusted me. That book just ruins the idea of a love-based relationship and makes it animalistic and perversly graphic. Yes, Fifty Shades has it "aww" moments, but it is far below the sensual, passionate and deeply touching books about Gabriel and Julia. There were many times when I had tears in my eyes, just because your writing was so realistic and the character's thoughts so deep and passionate that I couldn't help but shed some tears (which rarely happens when it comes to books).
I honestly thought the beginning of the first book was slightly confusing and a drag, but that was only because I couldn't wait for the action to begin. I love that there is no extreme eroticism in the story, and I really love how the characters' points of view are alternated.
I strongly dislike Paul. He both makes me laugh and scowl, but mostly, I pictured him as a grubby man who couldn't figure out that Julia was taken, even though your descriptions of him stated that he was handsome. Either way, Gabriel is really my favorite character. After he figures out who Julia is, he totally transforms.
My favorite part is when he goes to Italy during the time between March and July 1st (in the second book), because it was in this time that he really changes and comes out of hell finally.
Also, I was so surprised at the depth of descriptions of the Italian culture - I had never even heard of Dante and Beatrice, but upon finished the books, I was determined to research the culture and arts of Italy. The cultural theme is very interesting, and it helps draw humanity in its goodness, evil, virtues and even a religous part too.
I really look forward to see what happens to Gabriel and Julia and their relationship!! Please continue writing this wonderful story, thank you for such a beautifully written story!!

  29. Well... It's time to join the real world, ie... balance checkbook, pay bills, take down Christmas decorations, 6th grade Math lesson plans... sigh. I have really learned a lot from you, SR. Thank you for the many lessons in life, love, Philosophy, Art, Literature, Faith, and music. I have seen people mention songs for you. I debated to do this as well, but I must. I was listening to old songs on my ipod and two songs REALLY put me in Juliana and Gabriel's place. That gut-wrenching agony I felt while reading Rapture. And now that I'm about to say this, I think "Broken" by Seether was mentioned in Rapture? (My reward for paying bills is to read Rapture again, so I have to hurry and see if my memory is correct...) The other song is "The Flame" by Cheap Trick. Kinda dates me, but I think I'm on the tail end of that generation! These are two lines from "The Flame" - You'll always be the one.
You were the first, you'll be the last.
Okay - I'm finished with my obsession for now. Looking forward to the continuation of my favorite characters' life. Thank you!

  30. What wonderful love story. This was better than fifty shades of gray. I can't wait to continue reading Gabriel and Julia's love story. your books took me back home. I lived 30 minutes from Selinsgrove, was married in Sunbury and know of an Apple orchard in that General area. did you visit that area to get the idea for you books. I am recommending your books to others

  31. Oh my..... where to begin.... Opposite from you, I am no good with words... but felt the need to express how I adore your books/writting. In less than 2 weeks I am picking them up for the third time, and I can not get enough.... I think I might be able to read them at least a 100 times more.... maybe until I memorize some of the pages... So in love I am with your story! I think it is one of the greatest love story ever!

I am an engineer, not at all related to arts, literature, or so, but now feel the urge to go to museums and explore art paintings, read more about Dante and Beatrice' story, go to Italy and explore the beauty of its artists/culture/nature and not only as a mere tourist. Everything has more meaning after reading your books.... Great impact/learnings... Even the sound track on the books, you got perfectly right! I am addicted to "Lying in the hands of god" because of your writtings.... All your words seems magic just as this song once you hear it.

I can recommend it enought to family and friends..... in Brazil (where I am from) everyone is very anxious waiting for the realease...

I wish I could meet you at a book release or something like it to see where such great words come from! Kind of like - "explain the inexplicable"... I hope you do something like that for the third book in NY! I am in NJ and would be delighted to be there as well as many other fans of yours, I am positive!!!!

Well, no more boring you with my fan words!!!! THANK YOU!!! if that is even enough of a word to explain how I feel! Looking foward for your future books!!!!!
    Best of luck!!!!

  32. Sylvain,
I have enjoyed your books tremendously! They have captivated and transported me and I can't wait for more. I was reminded of my own trip to Assisi, when Gabriel was there on his "pilgrimage" and later, during the wedding. And the wedding music... some of my very favrorite pieces! I wanted to cry. I did cry when Gabriel dreamed of Maia and Grace. One of my favorite passages (& there are several) is from Rapture, "This was the joy that the world sought....... An ecstatic glimpse of the beatific vision." Lovely. Artfully, you joined the sacred, pagan, spiritual, physical, philosophical and psychological in the saga of Gabriel and Julianne. Thank you for the wonderful journey into this provocative tale of romance and redemption!
    Bellissima!

  37. Hi, SR! I'm looking forward to meeting your publicist, Enn Bocci in June! She's the next best thing to meeting you, our favorite author. My husband is coming with me,(he's so sweet). He brought home three mystery movies by Dorothy L. Sayers,(thought of you), featuring amateur sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane. Since Vane is an author, I wonder if Sayers saw herself in this role. Love BBC mysteries. Other than Law & Order, they're the only thing worth while on TV these days. We're anxious for #3 to be published. The stores better be well stocked for that event. Thanks for gifting us with such a compelling story.

  38. Hi Sylvan, I absolutely adored your Gabriel's Inferno series. It was the most beautiful love story I have read in many many years. The love between Gabriel and Julia amazing. I was so sad when I finished the second book, as I did not want their love story to end. I am so happy that you are writing a thrid book. My parents were both born in Sicily and I have been to Italy twice, and when you described the many beautifuly places in Italy, you took my breath away. You brought tears to my eyes, gave me many wonderful moments of laughter and truly warmed my heart with the most beautiful love story I have ever read. I have read over 100 books since I read your books and none truly compare. You are a literary genius!! I have one question, is there a way that the emails I receive from you can be sent in English, as I do not want to miss a minute of anyting you want to share with us. Hugs! Carol

  39. Hi SR, I'm reading interviews posted by Argyle Empire that you did a couple of years ago. The one I refer to is, "Welcome to Jennifer Lane Books," July 11, 2011. When I came to her question about your work being of fiction or based in reality, it brought tears to my eyes. I quote, "Quite a bit of me ended up in Gabriel, I'll confess, especially the old-fashioned way of speaking and relating to others. I think that he is what I could have been like were it not for the grace and forgiveness I've received in my own life. In that sense, he is as much a cautionary doppelgaenger as he is a fictional character." Now I know why I, as well as thousands of other women, fell in love with Gabriel O. Emerson. He, in many respects, is a real man full of compassion, gentleness and love. It is what most women want in a mate. I still have tears in my eyes and bless the woman who came into your life and made you the most endearing author and person I ever came across. God Bless you both and thank you for allowing us to have a glimpse into your well deserved private life.

Now I anxiously await Gabriel's Redemption. In the interim, I will read your GI/GR again and again. As Julianne might say, your novels have made it difficult for me to enjoy any other romance story. Nothing compares to your writing. Thank you for sharing your talent. ;)

  46. Hi SR,
I always believed that to understand the present we should go back to the past end to know or change the future we also should go back to the past. Because the human feelings are always the same and it doesn’t matter which time we are living in. And you presented this beautifully when in your books you connected literature, history, art, architecture and philosophy in the characters life along their growth as a person and their relationship. (By the way, I’m a great enthusiast of these subjects.) And you made me fall in love again for Italy. Thank you! Obrigada!
