About Sylvain Reynard





I am honoured to have been a Semifinalist for Best Author in the 2011 Goodreads Choice Awards and for my novel to have been a Semifinalist for Best Romance.



I'm interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition - particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself. 


I'm also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.


I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex's Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Twitter account.

  2. Bravo! I wanted to congratulate you on your new "seven figure" book deal. I absolutely love this story's plot, characters and their growth. Your story had me doing something I hadn't done since the movie "Braveheart" -- actually researching Dante's Inferno and learning something new. Thank you for opening my eyes to a whole new world.

  5. Thank you so much for your novels. I've been writing every now and then, but never had the courage to really finish my own full-length novel. You made me really miss writing again. Your style and prowess is amazing. It's very inspiring.

  7. So happy to hear that a third book is coming out. My heart is already beating to a "Sylvain Reynard cadence"~ I will simply continue to indulge in re-reading Gabriel's Inferno and Rapture over and over again until we're graced with his third literature wonder~

  8. I don't believe I have ever cried so hard as I did in Gabriel's Rapture. I can't wait to finish the book, but I don't want to leave the characters. I find myself wanting to reread "Divine Comedy", since I read it last as an undergraduate many years ago. You are a gifted writer and your characters have many dimensions. Thank you for the books. I can't wait for the third. In the meantime I will reread the other two.

  9. I'm currently reading Gabriels Inferno, and I am spellbound. It has completly entranced me. I'm so excited to heare that there is going to be a third, and yet have'nt even finished the first!! I love the history you have shared as well, and fully intend to divulge in Dante and Beatrice. You are very gifted, thanks for the breaks from reality!!!

  10. I am on my 4th re-read of both books and cannot wait for the third. I accidentally happened upon your first book and am I forever greatful for this particular happenstance. I know many have said it, but it bears repeating- please hurry with the third book! The anticipation is enough to overwhelm the senses.

    1. When I read your post that you are on your 4th re-read, I can truly relate. I really lost count how many times I have re-read these books. I really love the characters and with the third book pending, I can't wait to find out what happened to Paul. I really felt for him and do hope he found someone that loves him like he deserves.

      I also concur that Mr. Sylvain has a wonderful talent in story telling. I do hope that everyone will find their Gabriel and Julia!

  11. I have been looking for this story for years i read it back on fanfic and since have been looking for it to read again, im in love and so happy i have found where it went and was able to buy the book. You are a great writer and even way back when i thought you just HAD to publish your story

    I have just recently started reading books, I enjoyed Fifty Shades of Grey, however your books were so much more of a love story, and the knowledge I now have of Italian art makes me want to go to Italy and study them in further detail. Thank you so much for writing them and Iam greatly awaiting your 3rd book next year.

I love that you include faith in your books.. as a Christian faith in life means all,, I loved the way you show your fimine side when writing.. and when Gabriel and Julie made love I actually came out in goosebumps,, When he told Jukia about Paulina and Maia I could not read for crying... The music you use seem to go so well with the words Thank you for your beautiful books anfor making this grandma happy..

  17. Quería dejar mis mas sinceras felicitaciones por el libro... Soy de Argentina y hoy salio a la venta aquí, realmente hacia meses que esperaba por tenerlo en mis manos...a pesar de tener la posibilidad de poder leerlo electronicamente soy de esas que prefiere el papel y la magia que significa la lectura tradicional.
    Estoy totalmente fascinada con la historia, como se amalgama el romance con la profundidad del Dante, la cultura, la música, sobretodo como se puede utilizar la delicadeza, la sutileza para describir lo erótico sin ser procaz y sin caer en historias repetitivas de moda... Me cautivo totalmente y no puedo esperar a seguir la historia. Definitivamente Gabriel ya es parte de mi corazón!!! Gracias...

  19. Mabuhay ka Sylvain Reynard! When I started reading Gabriel's Inferno, I was hooked and totally mesmerized. I just can't put the book down. I had to read the 2nd book after I read the 1st one. So definitely waiting for the 3rd book.

    Because of your book, I rediscovered my love for literature, art and classical music. Great writing! It truly moved me.

    i was so captivated the first time I lay my hand on Gabriel's Inferno (no wonder I keep on rereading it up to this moment) and was totally lost under Professor Emerson's spell. And so I can’t contain my excitement to continue with Gabriel’s Rapture which is more exciting… Gabriel’s Proposal in the orchard touch my heart so deeply that my tear ducts can’t restrain… it’s been so long since I cried over a book… it was absolutely well written! Im in love with your books. So I guess you can imagine my anticipation to drag December closer for me to get hold of Gabriel’s Redemption… please do continue to make us happy through your writings…

I have read them all a few times, even when I'm supposed to be reading my Psy books instead;-)I just wanted you to know that you and your books are the ones that inspired me to keep going to school and get my phd degree and to be that professor that I long to be for myself! just the nicer version on the outside.lol..   22. Dear Mr. Reynard, I LOVE YOUR BOOKS!!!!!!!! I Came upon your books by accident on Facebook, when my favorite actor (Henry Cavill) was mentioned as the perfect Professor Emerson. I went online and found and ordered your books. As soon as, i started to read, i couldn't put it down. I found it beautifully romantic, heatbreaking and loved every moment of it. After reading the second book, I was even more in love than before. I was surprised to learn that a man had written them because i never knew a man could write something sssoooo romantic and beautiful. You took my imagination to Florence and places i never in my life, thought i would have ever known about. THANK YOU!!! I can't wait for Gabriel's Redemption, December can't come fast enough. I look forward to reading many more books from you. You are amazing author.
